music woes

-- I am having trouble getting any other music to play if it isn't coming hot off of the cd player or thru the media players own music. but can't get the player to accept any songs I have copyed to my hard-drive ,. drop and drag doesn't drag or drop. Am I missing something or is this player so properitary I can only play what it wants me to hear or buy. jopa
